Going Back in Time with 50's Dinner

The 50's  Dinner is one of the must visit resto in Baguio City. The whole resto is themed in the 50's setting, thus why it's named after. The songs played in the jukebox are all vintage 1950's, including the portraits of actors and actresses famous during that era.

They serve not just big, but extra big serving of orders from breakfast to lunch and dinner. they will surely fill your appetite with mouth watering foods in their menu. And hey, the price is really affordable and worth it for every bite.

Isdaan - the Floating Resto in Laguna

Isdaan, known as the floating resto is located in Calauan, Laguna. Owned by the same family that manage "Barrio fiesta" this resto have attracted throngs of visitors not only for the food they serve but also for the uniqueness they offer. Inspired by Thailand inspired theme,  they also  offer other attractions that gives a unique wholesome experience suited for the whole family. They offer different cuisine that you can order through their menu.

The only downside however is the waiting time for your food to be served, perhaps due to the large volume of orders (what we call in Tagalog as "Puti na ang mata sa gutom").

Scarbourough Shoal Grill and Seafood Resto

Named after the Scarborough Shoal,  or to what Philippines refers to as Panatag Shoal or Bajo de Masinloc — is one of the crucial and disputed land formations between China and the Philippines which lies about 118 nautical miles west of Zambales.

On the otherhand, Scarbourough Shoal Grill is located in San Carlos, Pangasinan - due to the familiarity of the restos' name, I've decided to pay it a little visit together with my wife to see what they have to offer. We are in the right place and time that they offer an "Eat All You Can" promo during Tusedays from 11am to 2pm.

For only 179 pesos, one can have an unlimited drinks and a hefty serving of dishes which includes: Lengua de Gato, Marinated Pork Strips, Seafood Pakbet (Crab, Squid & Osyter), Marinated Shrimps and Kalderetang Kambing; soup and dessert are also included. The food is really "sulit" for it's price, though the "Embutido" is somehow a little bit salty, but then again it's still better than any fast food or restos found in the city.

There are also Acoustic Live band performance during  7pm to 12mn.

Dalcielo Bakeshop & Restaurant

According to the restaurant owner "Dalcielo" means heaven sent or sent from the sky, And the word heaven sent is providential, fortunate, and blessed in other terms dalcielo is a blessing from God.

I visited one of their stores which is located in Lopez Ave., Los Banos, according to their waiter their specialties includes Fried Dinuguan, Pinakbet, Bagnet etc., but since I am not really into vegetables and I am more of a Carnivore, I ordered different foods that I usually prefer to eat like Pasta, Salads, Cakes & Pastries, Sandwiches and other meat/fish menu.

Some of the foods that I've ordered are: fettucini alfredo - the taste is okay though I would love it better if there are no basil and oregano included. The strawberry shake - it's like a diluted strawberry jam. The pepperoni pizza - it's like im eating a piece of rubber, too oily I might get a large dose of cholesterol. Their chocolate moist cake, it's suppose to be moist yet it's too dry it's a good thing the icing tastes good and their NYC Strawberry cheesecake which is the only thing that Im satisfied. However, they should at least cut down the sweetness of the strawberry syrup- not ideal for those with serious insulin problem.

Cafe Gran Kaldi - "Happiness in Every Plate"

Cafe Gran Kaldi is located in Bay, Laguna. As a native of the said town I have always ignored this resto until a friend from Manila told me about it. To my surprise it is actually better than the restos i've featured in Los Banos. The ambience is nice, well ventilated, it is clean, cozy and comfortable. 

The food they serve on their menu tastes great, it even exceeded my expectation. Some of the foods that I've ordered are the house specialties: Red Velvet (perfect taste, not too sweet), Oreo Chocolate Cheesecake is also good and their specialty which they call "Kaldi Chicken Pasta" - it tastes like or even better than Shrimp Scampi of Surf Shack in La Union and their Java Chip Frape which is quite normal taste nothing extra ordinary. The resto also offer other mix of cuisine ranging from popular Pinoy dishes to Asian cuisine and Italian cuisine. They also serve grilled food and burgers - which I think is too expensive for it's price and their chocolate chip cookies which I give a big thumbs down, it's too salty perhaps they accidentally used salt for sugar . 

As their slogan says "Hapiness in Every Plate, Love in Every Cup" - Im glad that Bayenos now have something to be proud of (This is not a paid blog). Honestly, I never expected that something this good would be found in Bay.

Cafe Antonio in Elbi

Cafe Antonio in Elbi is a quaint indie coffee bar that serves espresso beverages. They brew their own Coffee, and it is freshly roasted by 18 Days Coffee Roaster and Luca & Tosh Coffee Lab to enjoy that distinctive flavor of taste.

Aside from coffee, they also serve Italian and American menu. I asked the waiter with regards to their house specials, so we ended up ordering different menu which according to them are their "best seller" - Chicken Pesto, Fish Fillet, Classic Quarter Pounder Burger, Calamares and Chocolate Truffles. They say that they promote "Health Walk" so most of their menus are served with vegetables.

Food tastes great and recommended by Trip Advisor, on the other hand, the place is a little bit small and approximately it can only accommodate 12-15 person at a time not ideal for those who are claustrophobic. Then I also noticed that cob webs are filed up in the ceiling, I'm not sure if it's a design or what, but I believe they should regularly clean it.

Venice - Home of the Authentic Italian Food in LB

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and we were looking for a place that is cozy, yet somewhere that I haven't been into. So we've tried  "Venice", which claims to be the home of the authentic Italian food in Los Banos, true enough the owner/chef is an Italian national so the authenticity is unquestionable.

The place is cozy, which features several Italian inspired paintings. The background music is something that you don't usually hear in your FM radio - Italian songs and tune. The ambiance is great, well ventilated and properly lit.

I like Italian foods and it is actually on the top of my bucket list such as: Spaghetti, Lasagna, Pizza and Fettucini to name a few. But out of curiosity I ordered something that I haven't tried before, like the "Penne 4 Cheese". That was my first time to taste the menu, and im a little disappointed. Aside from the 4 cheese used, it has no other ingredients except for the white creamy saucy and the cheese was quite salty maybe that's how it's supposed to be. We also tried their "Pizza Venice Style", it is a 12 inch pizza with the right mixture of cheese and I can tell that they use tuna or salmon but the addition of oregano leaves is something that I don't really like. We also had Banana and Mango Shake which is good with it's milky delicious taste.
